2nd - Mike Taylor - 6lb 1oz - peg 9
3rd - Dave Atcherly - 5lb 1oz - peg 11
Once again, the annual Christmas Match was fished at Farliegh Wood. With most of the lake frozen over, the first task was to break the ice in all but a few of the pegs.
Jamie Seymour - fishing peg 1 - got his name on the Trophy, claiming the winning pools and a £25 voucher for the local butchers.
Jamie was the only angler to find any Carp on the day, catching two for 5lb 4oz, adding 4lb 8oz of silvers to his net giving him a 9lb 12oz Total. Jamie fished 8 meters in to open water catching on maggot and corn at dead depth.
Second place was won by Mike Taylor fishing peg 9. Mike caught 2lb 3oz of bits and a specimen 3lb 14oz Perch for a total weight of 6lb 1oz. Dave Atcherly drew peg 11 and caught 2lb 1oz of Roach and Skimmers, and also put a 3lb Perch into his net for a total weight of 5lb 1oz. Mike and Dave fished maggot close to the over hanging bushes.
The Mervyn Holmes Rosebowl Match was fished on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Semington. It was a bright winters day and we were greeted with a layer of ice over the canal. Fishing was slow to start, although a few Skimmers did show in the early stages of the Match.
Warren Bates drew peg 1 and put 7lb 2oz of Skimmers and Roach in to his net, claiming the Trophy for the second time. Most of his fish came to the net in the last two hours of the Match using double red pinkies.
Ian Tucker - fishing peg 3 - took second place, fishing maggot like Warren. Ian caught Skimmers and Roach and put a total of 3lb 2oz in his net. In third place, and only 1oz behind Ian, was Dave Atcherly who fished peg 4. Dave caught 3lb 1oz of bits using a whip double pinkie bread punch.

2nd - Darren Milton - 4lb 14oz - peg 14
3rd - George Clark - 3lb 4oz - peg 25
The Match started with a hard downpour of rain for 10 minutes, then the sky cleared. The bites were very slow to start and no-one could get the fish feeding at a steady rate, with only the odd fish coming to the net. Dave Weaver - fishing corner peg 18 - took first place with 4lb 15oz of small Carp. Dave poled tight to the corner and out in open water.
Darren Milton - fishing corner peg 14 - was just 1oz behind Dave at the weigh in with 4lb 14oz. Darren poled along the edge of the reeds. Third place was won by George Clark with 3lb 4oz. Fishing from peg 25, George caught 4 small carp, fishing tight in the reeds to his left.

Feeder fishing corn, Gerry caught 16lb 6oz of mainly Carp to 3lb. It was Gerry's lucky day as he also drew the Golden Peg and picked up an extra £50 for his efforts.
It was the last 2 hours of the match when Bob Teakle - fishing peg 1 - started to catch. Bob put 13lb 10oz of small Carp in his net, fishing corn to the margin, and was well on his way to catching up with Gerry's weight when the all-out was called.
Third place was won by Phil Seymour fishing peg 10. Phil fished Maggot over dead maggot at 16m, catching 10lb 2oz of Roach and Skimmers, and a lonesome Carp of 2lb 6oz for a combined weight of 12lb 8oz.
This Inter-Club Match between Avon AC, Salisbury and Keynsham AA was like fishing two different rivers. While anglers pegged at Portman Road, Scotland Road and Sainsburys really struggled for bites, those lucky enough to fish at Beanacre had some excellent fishing.
One of the lucky ones was Bradford-on-Avon angler Dean Adams, who recorded a winning weight of 18lb, consisting of Chub, Roach and Dace from a peg on the straight. Dean fished maggot under a stick float and feed hemp and caster. Second spot went to Lavington man Graham Pearce, who took 12lb 7oz of small fish from peg one at Beanacre. Graham fished a stick float down the middle with maggot hook bait.
Chippenham's Trevor Payne was third with three good Chub and some bits for 11lb 4oz from the high bank peg at Beanacre. Avon AC won the team event, with Keynsham AA runners-up.
The twice-rescheduled Keeling Cup Match was finally fished on the Crane stretch of the Bristol Avon on Saturday 22nd September. Recent changes in the weather caused water temperature to drop, making the sport difficult.
Warren Bates won the contest with 3lb 8oz, winning the Keeling Cup for the fifth time in the process. Second was Nigel Bateman with 2lb 15oz. Third place went to Gerry Welsh with 1lb 12oz.

21st Jan 2012 • Silver Fish Match - Century Ponds - 10am To 3pm
1st - Ian Tucker - 6lb 4oz - peg 26
2nd - Adam Smith - 5lb 1oz - peg 24
3rd - Dave Atcherley - 4lb 4oz - peg 25
The silver fish only Match fished at Century Ponds had a good turn out of Club Members and both the Old and Island Ponds were pegged. A strong South Westerly wind made fishing difficult and most anglers chose to fish the pole short. The fishing was made even more difficult due to the carp feeding well on both lakes which made the silver fish much harder to catch.
The top three winning weights all came from the Island Pond. Ian Tucker drew the Golden peg 26 and his 6lb 4oz catch won him first place on the day, plus the bonus of a golden peg payout. Ian poled red maggot into open water.
Adam Smith fishing peg 24 was second. Adam fished similar tactics to Ian and caught a mixed bag for 5lb 1oz. Third place was Dave Atcherley with 4lb 4oz fishing peg 25. Dave fished the pole into open water using caster.
