Keynsham Angling Association would like to take this opportunity to wish each Club Member, landlord and ticket outlet a Happy Christmas and tight lines for 2008. Thank-you for your support in 2007. The 2007 Christmas Match was won by Mike Taylor who won the George Bingham Shield with a total of 9lb 6oz.
The new 2008 Membership cards and redesigned Century Ponds day tickets are now on sale at all KAA outlets. The licences are valid from the date of purchase until the end of 2008. Adult licences cost £15 and concessionary (Junior / Senior Citizen / Registered Disabled) licences cost £7.50.
The 2007 Christmas Match for the George Bingham Shield takes place at Century Ponds on Sunday 2nd December. The Junior Carp Match at Century Ponds on 3rd November was won by Ben Pitman with 31lb 6oz from peg 7. Sean Clark landed a personal best 20lb 4oz Mirror (see picture).
Phil Seymour has kindly organised a Junior Carp Match for Saturday 3rd November 2007. Ten pegs are available at £5 per angler, with all entry fees going towards the prize fund. There will also be a biggest fish prize donated by Bristol Bait Supplies. Please note that Century Old Pond will be closed to non-match anglers all day on Saturday 3rd November. The Island Pond will remain open to all non-match anglers.
There will be a working party on Sunday 4th November 2007 at Century Ponds commencing at 10am. All Members are welcome to come along and help out.
1st Oct 2007 • Carp Match Round 6 Result, A.G.M. News, Christmas Match Details
The 6th and final round of the 18-Hour Carp Series was won by George Clark with 51lb 8oz from peg 11. Congratulations to Alex Seymour who won the Series with a combined weight of over 260lb. Well fished Alex.
The 104th Annual General Meeting was held on 1st October. President Mike Taylor has stepped down from Club duties after many years of service. The Committee would like to thank Mike for his valuable input. Richard Denning was elected the new Club President. Joining the Committee is Phil Seymour and Mike Ewins, who returns after an absence of almost 2 years. Welcome aboard gents!
Membership prices will increase in 2008 for the first time in 4 years, with Adult licenes costing £15 and Concessionary licences costing £7.50. A stock of Skimmers will be added to the Island Pond in early 2008. Century Ponds water levels are down at present - hopefully the autumn rain will soon replenish the Ponds. The Christmas Match will be held at Century Ponds on Sunday 2nd December, 10am draw, fishing 11am until 4pm. There are 20 pegs available.
Round 5 of the 2007 Carp Series was won by Andy Fryer with 46lb 10oz from peg 8. Andy's win takes him up 7 places in the league table to 7th position. Alex Seymour leads the Series over George Clark by 50lb. The final round takes place on 15th September.
Sport at Century Ponds has been on the up, with numerous Carp showing around the 15-18lb mark, including Jupiter who was recently banked weighing over 22lb. The Ponds are both brim-full. The River Avon has been running high following the July rainstorms, though the River Chew has fared better.
Have you seen this dog?? 'Buzz' is a much-loved, friendly Jack Russell who was last seen at around 11:30am on Tuesday 26th June 2007 at Century Ponds in Stockwood Vale, Keynsham. He stands at 10 inches tall and has a distinctive white stripe running the length of his head and face. There is a £50 reward for any information leading to his safe return. 15th Jun 2007 • Carp Series Results, Venue Reports, Golden Valley Match Details
The results for rounds 3 and 4 of the 2007 All-Night Carp Series have now been posted. Round 5 takes place at Century Ponds on 21st July. The Ponds have been producing some fine Tench, Roach and Bream during the past few weeks, though the Carp have been less evident following spawning. Expect to see the sport pick up once again soon. The aerator pump in the Old Pond is currently out of service and will be inspected on Sunday 17th June. Members are warned that some disturbance to angling will be inevitable.
The dates for the annual Inter-Club Match with Golden Valley are Sunday 19th August 2007 (Century Ponds, after the shoot) and Saturday 15th September (River Avon, Swineford Crane). 'Team Keynsham' has places for 10 anglers. Call or email if you are keen to represent the Club.
The new coarse angling season commences at midnight tonight - tight lines to all Members heading out to KAA's river waters.
The winner of the second round of the 2007 All-Night Carp Series was Shaun Porter with a weight of 67lb 9oz from peg 26. Thanks to all those who entered. The aerator pumps at Century Ponds are now fully operational and automated. The pumps are timed to come on for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon.
Sport at the Ponds is picking up, with Carp to 21lbs reported and good bags of mixed silver fish. The Tench have also been making an appearance. The River Chew is running very low at present but has been producing good-sized Trout and the odd Grayling during the first few days of the Coarse close season. Don't forget to renew your EA rod licence!
7th Mar 2007 • Carp Series Round 1 Result, New Aerators, Catch Reports
The winner of the first round of the 2007 All-Night Carp Series which took place on Saturday 3rd March was George Clark with a total of 74lb 13oz from peg 2. The new aerator pumps at Century Ponds are now operational.
Sport at the Ponds is good, with Carp reported to 20lbs from both Ponds, whilst the Roach are also making an appearance. Water levels remain bank high. Don't forget the close season for the rivers commences on 15th March.
16th Feb 2007 • 2007 Carp Match Series, New Postal Address
The Match Secretary has organised a Series of six All-Night Carp Series for 2007, commencing on Sat 3rd March. Membership upgrades (Gold and Silver cards) now run for one year from the date of purchase.
Several of the Association's waters are near overhead power lines carrying up to 132,000 volts. These lines are within reach of rods and poles. Members must maintain a safe fishing distance and must NOT carry assembled rods or poles under these power lines. Always look up.
The next Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 2nd October 2017 at Keynsham Cricket Club, 7:30pm prompt. All Members are eligible to attend.
