2nd Mar 2013 • Federation Working Party, Day Tickets Now At Veals
The Bristol and West of England Federation of Anglers are holding a swim clearing session at the Crane stretch of the Bristol Avon on the 24th March 2013. Any Club Members who would like to help out are more than welcome to join us. Meet in the Marina car park at 9am. For more details please contact Phil any evening after 7pm on 07973 736519.
Club Licences and Day Tickets are now once again on sale at Veals of Bristol. 'Plus One' Guest Day Tickets are now available at all official outlets, except Keynsham Angling Centre, which is currently not an official Keynsham A.A. outlet.
Match dates for most of 2013 have now been added to the Match calendar. Full details can be found on the Matches page. Next up is a Club Match on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Semington, which takes place on Saturday 23rd February, drawing at 9am, fishing 10am until 3:30pm.
9th Feb 2013 • Carp Series News, Century Work Underway
The dates and venues for the 2013 All-Night Carp Series have now been confirmed. Full details can be found on the Matches page. Work is currently underway at Century Ponds, where an Otter fence is being installed to protect fish stocks. The work should be completed by the end of next week.
24th Dec 2012 • Match Results, News Round-Up, Happy Christmas
The Mervyn Holmes Rosebowl Match was fished on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Semington, and was won by Warren Bates with 7lb 2oz. The George Bingham Christmas Shield was contested at Farleigh Wood, and was won by Jamie Seymour with 9lb 12oz. Click the links below for full Match reports. All Members fishing Brookmead (field 7) at Compton Dando, have been asked by the land owner to keep to the riverbank and avoid walking through the newly-planted trees. This is to avoid the spread of Ash Dieback disease, which is currently being investigated at the venue. Many thanks for your co-operation.

The new 2013 Club Licences are now available to buy in the usual outlets. Prices remain unchanged at £18, with Concessionary Membership costing £9.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, and until further notice, Club Licences and Day Tickets are not currently available at Keynsham Angling Centre. Guest Day Tickets are available from Bill Pugh, Whitegate, Scott's and Avon Aquatics.
The recent Club Match at Century Island Pond was won by Dave Weaver with 4lb 15oz from peg 18. The opening Match of the 2012-13 Match calendar at Farleigh Wood took place in late October, and was won by Gerry Welsh with 16lb 6oz from peg 3. Click the links below to view the full results. The new Match calendar is starting to take shape, with nine dates already confirmed between now and the end of the coarse fishing season. Further dates will be added very soon. Check out the Matches page for full details.
The new 2013 Membership cards are currently in production, and should be in the shops by the end of November. More details to follow in due course.
The 2012 Annual General Meeting took place on 8th October at Keynsham Cricket Club. Warren Bates rejoined the Committee after a few years away. Tony Powell joins as a new Committee Member.
George Clark stepped down as Match Secretary and Warren Bates took up the position. Bob Teakle became the new Match Organiser. Bristol and West Federation Delegates are now Rich Denning, Steve Ball and Dave Weaver.
There are no changes to Membership or day ticket charges for 2013. The cost of Gold and Silver Cards are to increase by £10 each, to £110 and £70 respectively.
The recent Inter-Club Match on the middle Avon, contested by Avon AC, Salisbury and Keynsham AA, was won by Dean Adams of Avon AC, with a weight of 18lb 0oz. Avon AC also won the team event, with Keynsham in second place. The postponed Keeling Cup Match finally took place on the Crane stretch of the River Avon on 22nd September, and was won by Warren Bates with 3lb 8oz.
The fourth and final round of the 2012 All-Night Carp Series at Century Old Pond was won by Ian Tucker with 14lb 8oz from peg 3. Ian also won the 2012 Series, with Sean Clark recording the biggest fish, a 29lb 4oz specimen caught in Round 2. Visit the Matches page for full Match reports.
The 2012 Annual General Meeting takes place this evening (8th October) at Keynsham Cricket Club. All Members are welcome to attend. The meeting commences at 7:30pm.
Due to the River Avon being flooded, the Keeling Cup Match scheduled for 14th July was postponed at the last minute. The Match will now take place on Saturday 1st September on the Crane stretch of the River Avon. The Match scheduled for 12th August at Windmill Fishery has now been cancelled.
7th Jul 2012 • Bristol Avon Waters Closed On 18th August
On Saturday 18th August 2012, the Angling Trust Division One National Championships are being fished on the Bristol Avon. All Club Waters on the Bristol Avon will be closed to Club Members on this Day.
The Keeling Cup Match on 16th June will be held at the Chewton Meadow stretch of the River Chew. The draw takes place at 8:45am, fishing 10am to 3:30pm. The entry fee is £2 plus £10 Golden Peg.
Two items have been found at Century Ponds - one was a set of bite alarms, the other was an EA Rod licence. The items were left by two different anglers. Please call the Club telephone number (0793 5494398) if these belong to you.
The Match season is now in full swing - results have been periodically posted on the Matches page. Century Ponds are both fishing really well, with big Carp from the Old Pond and plenty of small Carp and silvers showing in the Island Pond.
The Arthur Edwards Memorial Cup was fished for in early March on the Mill Ground stretch of the River Chew and was won by Dave Weaver - the second time Dave has lifted the Cup. The Club Match at Shiplate on 24th March was won by Adam Smith with 36lb 6oz from peg 7.
The Club Match at Century Island Pond on 31st March was won by Gerry Welsh, who landed 29lb 4oz from peg 21. Adam Smith won the Club Match at Windmill Fishery with 21lb 0oz from peg 1.
25th Jan 2012 • Silver Fish Match Result, Venue Reports
The recent silver fish only Match at Century Ponds was won by Ian Tucker with 6lb 4oz from peg 26. Both ponds are fishing well for this time of year, with double figure Carp - including a 19lb Common - being caught from most pegs of the Old Pond. The Island Pond is fishing well for smaller Carp and silvers.
The River Chew has been fishing well for Grayling at Compton Dando, with some good Dace and Roach showing further downstream at the Mill Ground. Recent rain has put some flow and colour into the stream.
Several of the Association's waters are near overhead power lines carrying up to 132,000 volts. These lines are within reach of rods and poles. Members must maintain a safe fishing distance and must NOT carry assembled rods or poles under these power lines. Always look up.
The next Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 2nd October 2017 at Keynsham Cricket Club, 7:30pm prompt. All Members are eligible to attend.
